Fire Prevention Week

Traditional Bank Fire TruckIn 2008, there were 386,500 house fires in the United States, killing 2,755 civilians. Fire safety experts say most of those house fires could have been prevented with a few extra precautions. The purpose of Fire Prevention Week is to educate people on ways to keep their homes and families safe.

Help promote Fire Prevention Week with a custom imprinted giveaway from Crestline. This foldaway fire safety poster is a great way to educate kids about fire prevention. It’s perfect for school or community events, or as a handout at your business. Try pairing the poster with some fire safety temporary tattoos, or a Kids Care Coloring Kit, this handy first aid kit comes packed with kid-friendly character band aids, crayons, and coloring sheets.

Or try printing some fire safety tips on this octagon-shaped magnet. Its stop sign shape makes a great reminder to “Stop, Drop, and Roll!”

Here is a simple fire safety checklist to help you stay safe:
• Make sure all electrical cords are in good condition
• Keep your clothes dryer vent and filter clean and free of lint.
• Never leave food unattended while cooking on the stovetop.
• Test smoke alarms regularly, and replace batteries often.
• Do not run extension cords under carpets or across high-traffic areas.
• Place portable space heaters at least three feet away from flammable items.
• Make sure all escape routes are clear of clutter and easily accessible.
• Keep curtains and other flammable items far away from your stovetop.
• Get your furnace and/or chimney serviced and inspected at least once per year.
• Turn off portable space heaters before going to sleep or leaving the room.
